Pokémon TCG Pocket surpasses 150 million downloads on first anniversary

One year after global launch, the app hits a milestone few mobile games reach

One year to the day after Pokémon TCG Pocket went live worldwide, The Pokémon Company announced that the app had surpassed 150 million downloads on iOS and Android. For a free-to-play digital card game that hadn’t even existed 12 months earlier, the number was a clear signal: the pocket-sized TCG wasn’t a side project—it was a hit.

Pokémon TCG Pocket 150 million downloads first anniversary

From October 30, 2024 to October 30, 2025

On October 30, 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched with Genetic Apex, two free packs a day, and Immersive Cards. There was no trading yet, no Mega Evolution, no Share feature—just the core loop of opening packs, building a collection, and playing quick battles. That was enough. Players showed up, stayed, and told their friends.

Over the next year, the app added Mythical Island, Space-Time Smackdown (and trading), Secluded Springs, Deluxe Pack ex, and Mega Rising. It introduced Trade Stamina, Trade Tokens, Pokémon Tool cards, and daily card sharing. By the first anniversary, the experience was far richer—and the 150 million download milestone proved that the foundation laid on day one had scaled.

Why 150 million matters

Few mobile games reach 150 million downloads, and fewer still do it in a single year. For Pokémon TCG Pocket, the number reflected a few things: the strength of the Pokémon brand, the appeal of “two free packs a day” with no pressure to pay, and the steady drip of new sets and features that gave players reasons to keep opening the app. The first anniversary wasn’t just a birthday—it was a confirmation that the game had found its audience.

Anniversary celebration and what's next

To mark the milestone, the app kicked off a First Anniversary Celebration Campaign (October 29–December 16, 2025), with free Mega Rising booster packs for all players, special missions, and reissued promo events.

The Mega Rising expansion—bringing Mega-Evolved Pokémon ex to the app—launched the same day, so the anniversary and the next chapter of the game landed together.

For trainers who had been there since day one, the 150 million number was a shared win. For everyone else, it was a reminder that the pocket-sized TCG was here to stay—and just getting started.
