Extradimensional Crisis: Ultra Beasts invade Pokémon TCG Pocket

Buzzwole ex, Guzzlord ex, and Tapu Koko ex lead an otherworldly mini expansion

Extradimensional Crisis arrived on May 29, 2025, bringing the Ultra Beasts to Pokémon TCG Pocket for the first time. With 83 unique cards (103 total), this mini expansion pulls from the stranger side of the Alola region—wormholes, extradimensional creatures, and the guardians that stand against them.

Ultra Beasts make their debut

The Ultra Beasts are some of the most distinctive Pokémon ever designed, and Extradimensional Crisis brings several of them into the TCG Pocket meta. Buzzwole ex leads the charge as a Fighting-type powerhouse with massive HP. Guzzlord ex adds a Darkness-type threat that can overwhelm opponents. Both are Basic Pokémon ex—no evolution required—making them easy to slot into decks immediately.

Supporting the Ultra Beast lineup are Pheromosa and Kartana, which appear as non-ex cards but still carry the otherworldly aesthetic that makes the Ultra Beasts so visually striking.

Tapu Koko ex and Lycanroc ex

Not everything in this set comes from Ultra Space. Tapu Koko ex represents Alola's Island Guardians with a Lightning-type card that's fast and disruptive. Lycanroc ex brings Rock-type aggression, and Alolan Dugtrio ex rounds out the ex roster with a quirky but effective option. The mix of Ultra Beasts and Alolan natives gives the set thematic cohesion while offering diverse deck-building options.

Alolan evolution lines

Beyond the headline ex cards, Extradimensional Crisis includes complete evolution lines like Rowlet → Dartrix → Decidueye and Petilil → Lilligant, filling out the Grass-type portion of the set. These lines give collectors full sets to chase and battlers reliable evolution strategies.

A compact threat

At 83 unique cards, Extradimensional Crisis is a focused mini expansion, but the Ultra Beast theme gives it an identity that's entirely its own. These aren't just powerful cards—they're strange, alien, and unlike anything else in the Pokémon TCG Pocket card pool. If you've been waiting for the weirder side of Pokémon to show up in the app, your patience has been rewarded.
