Mega Sableye ex and Greninja Deck Guide in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Tank with Cursed Jewel while two Greninja and Darkrai ex chip every knockout into range

Mega Sableye ex and Greninja is a chip-damage machine: a 170 HP Basic wall attacks for 80 and punishes anything that hits it back, while two benched Greninja and Darkrai ex add up to 60 damage per turn without attacking at all. The win condition is stacking that passive damage so Cursed Jewel knockouts arrive a full turn earlier than the opponent's math expects, then closing on softened Bench targets with Cyrus.

How it works

กำลังโหลด...

Mega Sableye ex is the frontline, and being a 170 HP Basic means it needs zero setup turns. Cursed Jewel costs Darknessความมืด Colorlessไร้สี and deals 80, and during the opponent's next turn anything that damages it takes 40 back, so a two-hit exchange really costs the attacker 80 in return. A Retreat Cost of 1 lets it slide out of danger cheaply. The catch is brutal: as a Mega ex it hands over 3 points when it goes down, which loses the game on the spot, so every heal-or-retreat decision revolves around protecting it.

Greninja is the engine that makes the numbers work. Its Water Shuriken ability throws 20 damage at any of the opponent's Pokémon once per turn, from the safety of your Bench, and with two copies in play that is 40 placed wherever you want before you even declare an attack. Rare Candy jumps Froakie straight past the Stage 1, so a Greninja can be sniping as early as your second turn. It also carries Mist Slash for 60 at Waterน้ำ Colorlessไร้สี, a genuine backup attacker worth only 1 point when it trades, though its 120 HP and Lightningไฟฟ้า weakness mean it should stay benched whenever possible.

กำลังโหลด...

Darkrai ex is the third damage source and never needs to attack. Nightmare Aura deals 20 to the opponent's Active Pokémon every time you attach a Darknessความมืด Energy from your Energy Zone to it, so idle attachment turns still advance your knockout math. Combined with two Water Shuriken, that is 60 chip damage in a turn, and 140 total once Cursed Jewel swings. Its own Dark Prism costs Darknessความมืด

Darknessความมืด

Colorlessไร้สี for 80, making a charged Darkrai ex a real secondary Active with 140 HP if Mega Sableye ex has to rotate out, though its Retreat Cost of 2 makes committing it a one-way trip.

Chingling is the ideal opener despite its 30 HP. It retreats for free, so it never traps you in the Active Spot, and Jingly Noise deals 10 while locking the opponent out of playing Item cards from hand on their next turn. That lock is worth far more than the damage: it stalls Poké Ball and Rare Candy turns across the board and buys you the tempo to build Greninja unopposed. It has no weakness, attacks for any single Energy, and concedes only 1 point when it falls, exactly the trade this deck wants.

Matchups

MatchupFavorabilityHow to play it
Mega Altaria ex and EspeonFavoredNo weakness runs in either direction, and your chip total wins the race since two Cursed Jewel swings plus ability damage remove their Mega line. Snipe their Swablu and Espeon pieces early, and remember a knockout on Mega Altaria ex is 3 points and wins immediately.
Milotic ex and DarkraiFavoredWater Pulse deals 80 into your 170 HP wall, so Mega Sableye ex survives two hits and returns 40 each time it is struck. Sleep stalls your Active, but Water Shuriken and Nightmare Aura still deal damage, so chip Milotic ex down for a 2 point knockout.
Mega Blaziken ex and GreninjaEvenThis is a mirror-speed chip race with no weakness involved, and whoever protects their Mega ex longer wins. Use Jingly Noise early to slow their Rare Candy turns, snipe their Froakie before it evolves, and never leave Mega Sableye ex in range of a lethal swing worth all 3 points.
Miraidon ex and MagnezoneUnfavoredEvery Lightningไฟฟ้า attack hits your Greninja line for 20 extra, so keep both snipers benched permanently. Wall with Mega Sableye ex and lean on the 40 damage recoil; their fast Basic attackers hate trading into Cursed Jewel.
Mega Sceptile ex and GreninjaHeavily unfavoredTheir Grassหญ้า attackers hit Mega Sableye ex and Darkrai ex for 20 extra while their own Greninja matches your snipes. Wall with Chingling instead, since it is not grass weak, and race for the 3 point knockout on their Mega ex before they land theirs.

Tech options and swaps

The flex slots are the singles. Cyrus drags a damaged Benched Pokémon into the Active Spot, and because Water Shuriken puts damage exactly where you want it, you can mark a target one turn and execute it the next; a second copy is the most common addition. Copycat shuffles your hand away and draws a card for each card the opponent holds, which is this deck's only big refuel, so cutting one is risky. Small Balloon drops Mega Sableye ex's Retreat Cost to 0 so it ducks out of lethal for free, while Lucky Egg turns an eventual Chingling or Greninja knockout into a fresh 5 card hand; trim the Lucky Eggs first if you need room.

How to pilot it

  1. Deck setup: register Waterน้ำ and Darknessความมืด in your Energy Zone. Darkness pays Cursed Jewel and triggers Nightmare Aura; water pays Mist Slash and any colorless cost.
  2. Turn one: lead Chingling if you can and bench Froakie immediately, using Poké Ball to find missing Basics. Going first you get no Energy from the Energy Zone, so just develop; going second, attach and use Jingly Noise to lock their Items.
  3. Early turns: Rare Candy a Froakie into Greninja on your second turn (never on the turn Froakie came down), and start Water Shuriken right away. Keep Chingling up front as long as the Item lock is buying time.
  4. Midgame: promote Mega Sableye ex once it has Darknessความมืด Colorlessไร้สี and swing for 80 every turn. On turns where the Active is safe, send the Energy Zone attachment to Darkrai ex, but only a Darknessความมืด Energy triggers the 20 from Nightmare Aura.
  5. Closing: your full cycle is 140 per turn, 80 from Cursed Jewel plus 40 from two Water Shuriken plus 20 from Nightmare Aura. Bank Water Shuriken damage on a Benched ex, then Cyrus it up for 2 points; a regular Pokémon is 1 point and a Mega ex is 3, so plan the exact sequence to 3.
  6. Misplays to avoid: attaching Waterน้ำ to Darkrai ex expecting Aura damage, using Rare Candy on a Froakie played that same turn, leaving Mega Sableye ex in lethal range when Small Balloon would have retreated it for free, and forgetting that its knockout gives the opponent the whole game.

Deck strengths

  • Up to 60 damage per turn from abilities alone, so even non-attacking turns advance your win
  • Mega Sableye ex is a no-setup 170 HP Basic whose 40 damage recoil ruins two-hit knockout math
  • Water Shuriken picks off 60 HP and 30 HP Basics on the Bench before they ever evolve
  • Jingly Noise Item locks slow every meta deck's setup while conceding only a 1 point Pokémon
  • Cyrus converts stored chip damage into knockouts the opponent cannot play around

Deck weaknesses

  • Losing the single Mega Sableye ex gives up 3 points and the game instantly
  • Grassหญ้า attackers hit both Mega Sableye ex and Darkrai ex for 20 extra
  • Lightningไฟฟ้า decks punish the 120 HP Greninja line for 20 extra if it is ever exposed
  • Greninja needs Froakie plus Rare Candy or a full Stage 2 line, so early Copycat whiffs can strand the engine

Is it worth building?

Yes, and it is one of the strongest builds you can own right now. The cost is real: Mega Sableye ex is the flagship pull of the newest set, and two Greninja plus two Rare Candy round out a demanding craft list. In return you get a deck that rewards planning, since every Water Shuriken and Energy attachment compounds into knockouts a turn ahead of schedule. It suits players who enjoy damage bookkeeping and target selection. If your ladder is thick with Grassหญ้า decks, keep something else ready; otherwise this is a build that will stay relevant for a long time.
